Innovative solutions to increase energy efficiency in railways

Prof. Philippe Ladoux , University of Toulouse, France, philippe.ladoux@laplace.univ–tlse.fr
Eng. Hervé Caron, SNCF Réseau, Technical Direction Electrical Department, France, herve.caron@reseau.sncf.fr

All over the world, railway electric traction is widely used. To increase the efficiency of the transport system, innovative solutions are introduced both in the electrification systems and the rolling stocks (new power supply scenario with active substations and renewable energy sources, fixed and embedded energy storage systems, SiC traction inverters, superconducting devices, …). The objective of this session is to gather people from industries and academia in order to compare their experiences, visions and research.
